Scot Jackson teaches his favourite indoor exercises

Written by Health Leader Scot Jackson

Health Leader Scot Jackson, has come up with some indoor exercises that everyone can do over winter when exercising outside is getting harder. Just find a little bit of space and try some of these exercises yourself!

Jumping jacks or star jumps: Stand up tall with your feet together and hands by your side. Quickly raise your hands above your head, while jumping out with your feet stretched out to the side like a star.

Walk outs: Stand with your feet hip-width apart, bend over and place your hands on the floor in front of your feet. Put weight onto your hands and walk them forwards and backwards.

Lunges: Step forward with one leg, lowering your hips until both knees are bent to about 90 degrees or an L shape, then push yourself back up and return to your starting position. Remember to swap legs.

Sit ups: Lie on your back, bend your knees about hip-width apart, hands behind your head and lift up until you are nearly at your knees, then return back down to the ground.

Push ups: get into a crawling position with your hands on the floor shoulder width apart. Lower your body to the ground, pause at the bottom and then return back up to the return position. You could try kneeling  push-ups as well for an easier option.
