The Special Olympics LA2015 Games will be a momentous occasion for Justene Noyer. Not only is she representing Special Olympics New Zealand for the first time; she is also heading overseas for the first time.
It is a goal that she has been working towards since the 2009 National Summer Games in Palmerston North.
The Special Olympics Tauranga athlete has been training with Special Olympics for 22 years.
Athletics is her main sport but she also trains in Indoor Basketball for Special Olympics.
In the lead up to the LA2015 Games Justene is training several times a week with Special Olympics Coach Ethney Barnaby and Val Bromley (a Tauranga Athletics coach, and former Special Olympics World Summer Games Coach).
“I have been working towards getting to the World Summer Games since I started Special Olympics New Zealand back in 1992. It has been one of my life goals,” she says.
It is a goal that her family and fiancé, and the Special Olympics team, are proud that she is fulfilling.
