Special Olympics North Taranaki athlete Julie Bryant first tried out tenpin bowling with the Club in 1990. It sparked a lifelong passion for the sport.
The gregarious Julie is often early for training and competitions so she can talk with peers before the session or competition begins. During the game however she is incredibly focused with all her attention focused on the pins and her approach.
Julie narrowly missed out on a spot in the Athens, Greece Special Olympics World Summer Games team and is delighted to have been selected for Los Angeles.
“I am a good bowler and it is great that I have the opportunity to represent North Taranaki and New Zealand at the World Summer Games. I’m looking forward to making more friends too,” she says.
As well as tenpin bowling, Julie’s other love is horse riding and she attends Riding for the Disabled once a week. She also enjoys walking and cycling for fitness. Julie works as a car valet at Wade Cars in New Plymouth.
