Sport plays a big role in Bradley Garner’s life.
The Special Olympics Canterbury athlete plays basketball for both his Club and Allenvale School, and also trains in athletics with his school (specialising in the 100m run, 200m run, long jump, shot put, and discus). He also goes to the gym twice a week.
Bradley is well known for his athleticism and he tends to return home with first place medals in school athletics and swimming events.
The LA2015 World Summer Games will be the first time Bradley has represented Special Olympics New Zealand internationally.
“It’s awesome. I’m looking forward to representing New Zealand in Los Angeles. Special Olympics New Zealand has given me the chance to be part of a great basketball team, learn more skills, and play with my teammates,” he says.
Bradley loves to read about famous sportsmen, particularly Richie McCaw, Andy Ellis, and Dan Carter. His favourite films are the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy and the ‘Harry Potter’ series.
