Noel Joyce (back row, right hand side)
Noel Joyce was well suited to the Assistant Head of Delegation role. Over the past 12 years the keen skier and snowboarder has become heavily involved with Special Olympics New Zealand's snow sports activities.
Noel is a member of Special Olympics North Otago's snow sports team, has helped organise and run the annual snow camp in Cardrona, and acted as Assistant Head of Delegation and Assistant Snowboard Coach for the New Zealand contingent at the 2009 World Winter Games in Idaho, USA.
Noel's family are involved with Special Olympics. Son Dan is an Alpine skier for North Otago, and his three other sons, and wife, Christine, volunteer.
Noel's advice to the New Zealand team competing in PyeongChang was to "make sure having fun is at the front of their minds. Competing is second in my book. They've got to have fun."
