Susan Godsall - Table tennis

Auckland-based athlete Susan Godsall enjoys achieving beyond people’s expectations. The Special Olympics Tamaki athlete made headlines last year as being one of four people with intellectual disabilities to go flatting together independently. She lives with fellow Special Olympics athletes Travers Brown, Daina MacRae, and Richard Bisley in Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs.

Now Susan is one of New Zealand’s first athletes with intellectual disabilities to represent New Zealand in table tennis, alongside flatmate Richard Bisley. Not bad considering she only started training with Special Olympics New Zealand four years ago.
“The thing I like the most about Special Olympics New Zealand is that it gives the opportunity for people to try and achieve beyond their thoughts,” she says.

In addition to table tennis training, Susan attends the day service at Eastgate Community Trust. She is a fan of Coronation Street, and follows the Silver Ferns and All Blacks.
