Special Olympics New Zealand has played an important role in Michael Holdsworth’s life, since he first joined our organisation at the age of 14. In fact, the Wellington-based athlete, who is now 39-years-old, has spent more than half his life training with Special Olympics.
“I love training with Special Olympics. It’s great for my fitness and I get to meet some really great people,” says Michael.
He is competing in aquatics at the Asia Pacific Games 2013, but he also plays basketball and skis. Michael has attended six Special Olympics National Summer Games, and represented New Zealand in Alpine skiing at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in 1993.
