Matthew Caldwell

Special Olympics Southland athlete Matthew Caldwell has been training with Special Olympics for the past 12 years and loves competing.

He is an avid bowler and was a reserve for the Special Olympics New Zealand team that went to the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2011 in Athens, Greece. In that role he trained with the New Zealand team and learnt what it takes to represent New Zealand on the international sports stage.

Matthew trains weekly at Superbowl in Invercargill in between working at a local music shop, landscaping work, and a regular pamphlet run.

Matthew flats in Invercargill and spends alternate weekends with his family at Seaward Downs, near Edendale, with their family dog "Jack" the Jack Russell.
