Lily Harper

Special Olympics Manawatu athlete Lily Harper is a proud New Zealander and is delighted at the prospect of representing our country overseas.

Based in Palmerston North Lily trains weekly with her fellow Special Olympics Manawatu athletes and likes to “swim hard”.

“The best part of Special Olympics is hanging out with my friends at training, and being able to swim hard at training. I love swimming. New Zealand is a great place to live and I’m really glad that I have made it on the Special Olympics New Zealand team going to the Asia Pacific Games,” she says.

Lily works at Farmers department store, and flats with two friends with Down syndrome, who like her are Shortland Street fans. Lily loves acting and dancing and is a keen member of Jorjaz dance group (for young people with an intellectual disability).
