Special Olympics Wellington athlete Karin Clayden has been training with two of her bowling teammates for years. In fact, she flats with one of them (Tracey Tse), and works with another of them (Paul Heyes). So in some respects the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games is dominating her year—at training, work, and at play!
Karin is a vocal advocate for people with intellectual disabilities in the community and was one of the ‘stars’ of the Electoral Commission and IDEA Services’ “Get Ready and Vote” DVD, educating people how to vote in the 2011 general election (alongside Tracey). She is a member of the advocacy group People First, run by, and for, people with an intellectual disability.
Outside of bowling, and work at St Vincent De Paul Society’s Wellington Headquarters making altar bread, Karin enjoys baking, drawing, artwork, and shopping.
