Twenty six year old Georgia Grimme has been coaching Special Olympics equestrian riders for 10 years.

She had her first pony at three years old and has been riding since then, Georgia and her mum have been breeding Arabian horses for 12 years.

Georgia is the Equestrian coach for her local Special Olympics club - Bay Of Islands (which she was a founding member of), she loves spending the time with both horses and athletes and seeing how much the horses can impact on the riders and the empathy and the relationship they gain from their interaction with their mounts.

She finds coaching Special Olympics very rewarding, and loves seeing the benefits for the athletes both socially and competitively.

This is her first World Games, and Georgia is really excited to be a part of the New Zealand team for our big journey to Abu Dhabi.

Georgia's role model is her mum - Nicole, she is not only the club president but also team manager and assists with coaching the equestrian team.

Georgia's proudest moment with Special Olympics would be the recognition of her achievements so far and therefore being selected to coach on an International level, and Georgia would like to thank those involved in her selection from Special Olympics New Zealand.
