Damian Johanson

Special Olympics Mana Athlete Damian Johanson is well known at his local Countdown supermarket as the singing supermarket worker and they are all behind him as he tackles his next challenge of representing New Zealand at Football in Abu Dhabi.

40 year old Damian started kicking a Football around with his Dad at 8 years old and is excited to take his first plane ride to Abu Dhabi to show off his skills there, while meeting all the other athletes from around the world.

Damian lists The Phoenix Football Team as his role models as they “try hard and never give up” Damian loves competing for Special Olympics and has made lots of friends since joining in 2015.

If there is one way Damian could change the world for the better it would be having “everyone smiling” hopefully with Damian’s infectious smile the world may start being more like him
