David Nixon

Getting to meet new people and representing New Zealand is what Special Olympics Waikato Tenpin Bowler David Nixon is looking forward to the most when he travels and competes in Abu Dhabi in March next year at the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games.

During the 12 years he has been involved in Special Olympics, David’s personal best score was bowling a 267 game.

In an attempt to try and repeat this score David is training three times a week and he has set himself an ultimate goal of “winning Gold in Abu Dhabi next year”.

Famous photographer Peter McKinnon is David’s role model, as “I would like to one day be famous like him for my photography” David says.

And its through his photography that David feels he can change the world to be a better place.

David feels that his life has changed since getting involved in Special Olympics as he has made lots of new friends and has travelled to various competitions throughout New Zealand (and now the World)

Having a photograph he took, recently published in his local Newspaper is what David is most proud of to date.

Photography plays a big part in David’s life and this is one of his main hobbies; the other is going to the gym.
