Amy Batchelor

The World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi next March will be Amy’s first trip overseas.

Equestrian rider Amy Batchelor has been involved with Special Olympics in Canterbury for the past 11 years.

Although she has never been involved in Unified Sports Amy believes that “if it gets people talking about Special Olympics then I love how it brings people together and we are all the same and we can play sports we are good at”.

Moving from Trot to Canter was one of Amy’s highlights so far during her time riding horses.

Amy is really looking forward to competing for New Zealand, doing her best in what I love to do and making new friends while she prepares for and competes in Abu Dhabi.

She rides twice a week and as the games come closer she intends increasing this, especially if there are things she needs to work on.

Her mum and dad are Amy’s role models as “they have brought me up, helped me and have gotten me where I am today”.

Amy’s hobbies and interests include going to church, life group, crafts, horse riding, music, walks with the dog, shopping and just hanging out with friends.

She is also a keen user of Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram.
