Braden Kendall

Braden has been a member of Special Olympics Manawatu since before 2009 and has competed at both school and club level.

As well as his World Summer Games chosen sport of Athletics, Braden has competed in multiple sports within Special Olympics including Football, Basketball, Swimming and Bocce however after competing in the Hamilton 2016 Trans -Tasman Event and 2017 National Summer Games in Athletics he is now focussed on Athletics.

He likes to compete at sprints events, in the 100 and 200 metre races as well as the 4 x 100 relay.

Braden’s role models include Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and Special Olympics Manawatu athlete Ryan Smith.

Braden goal in life is to be treated as an equal to everyone else, and he is really looking forward to making new friends in Abu Dhabi.

His proudest moment in his sporting career was winning a gold medal in the 100 metres at the New Zealand Secondary School Champs, Braden says he “won it for his sick mum”.

Basketball and playing UK music is his main interests and hobbies.

An avid user of Google, You Tube and Facebook means Braden is  right into social media and keeps up with what is happening around the world.

Braden works as a printer out at Massey University and has been employed there for 6 months.
