Grace Payne

Nineteen year old Grace Payne from Special Olympics Counties has been involved with the programme since joining back in 2008 with her local Secondary School.

Grace’s role models are her Basketball coaches. Mainly because they have given her the confidence to take on a leadership role that she now has within her Counties Basketball squad.

Basketball, Football and Table tennis are Grace’s main sports, but she has also competed in Athletics and Bowling

Grace trains 4 -5 hours a week and has set herself a goal to get herself fitter

Being able to compete overseas and enjoying the experience is what Grace is most looking forward as she prepares to compete in the World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi next March.

“My self-confidence has built and I am more sociable with people” Grace says is how Special Olympics has changed her life.

Grace is most proud of her achievements with Special Olympics.

She shared that Special Olympics Healthy Athletes has helped her out, it has made her aware of how important healthy eyes, ears, teeth and feet are for her sports and everyday life and activities.
