Kyle Harpur


Special Olympics North Canterbury athlete Kyle Harpur is no stranger to the world stage. After competing in Athletics at the 1987 World Summer Games in Indianna America Kyle is ready to compete again in Athletics this time in Abu Dhabi and is looking forward to travelling somewhere new and the competition that awaits him.

45 year old Kyle has been with Special Olympics for 30+ years is very dedicated to his role as an Athlete and Global Messenger and never misses an opportunity to spread the Special Olympics Message around his community.

Kyle trains every week and looks to his role models Mene Mene and Special Olympics North Canterbury Coach Brent Kemp who like him both like sports for inspiration.

Kyle is most proud of winning a gold medal in shot put at the Indianna Games, and hopes to achieve his best in Abu Dhabi.
