Law Enforcement Torch Run

What is the Law Enforcement Torch Run

At its most basic level, the LETR is a running event in which officers and athletes carry the Flame of Hope to the Opening Ceremony of a Special Olympics National Summer or Winter Games. The mission of the LETR is to increase awareness and raise funds for the Special Olympics movement.

What we aim to achieve

As well as increasing awareness of the movement and raising funds, the LETR New Zealand is also working in partnership with Special Olympics New Zealand to promote and support its Athlete Leadership Programme (ALPs) - a programme that aims to provide athletes with the tools and experiences to become leaders in their own right - to speak for themselves.

How can you get involved?

  • Join us in your local LETR torch run for the National Summer Games 2017 (full schedule below)
  • Contact your local Regional Sports Coordinator to see how you can get involved
  • By offering to help form a local committee to manage and grow LETR events in your community.
  • By making a donation - either a one off payment or by joining the Salary Deduction scheme.

Contact Peter Clinton for more information around the LETR at this year's National Summer Games.
