Scot Jackson

029-Special-Olympics-19-03-14LR.jpgSpecial Olympics Howick-Pakuranga basketball and tenpin bowling athlete Scot Jackson is no stranger to being in the limelight.

He has been involved with Special Olympics New Zealand since 1989 and has represented the organisation at several international events. He was the flag bearer for Special Olympics Howick-Pakuranga at the 2012 Trans Tasman Tournament in Australia, and competed in basketball at the Special Olympics World Summer Games 1995 in Connecticut, USA.
Scot is not afraid to step up and lead others, and has officiated at several Club and regional events and coached tenpin bowling in Howick-Pakuranga.
As a national Global Messenger Scot will be building on the knowledge and skills he has gained from being Athlete Representative for Special Olympics Howick-Pakuranga, and as a member of the Club’s Athlete Leadership Programme Committee. In this role he has spoken to community groups about Special Olympics, most recently to a group of 100 Probus members.
“As a Global Messenger I am looking forward to promoting Special Olympics and hope to encourage other people to join and enjoy the benefits I have had as a member of Special Olympics,” he says.
In addition to his training with Special Olympics Scot works at Goode Brothers restaurant in Botany, Auckland as a kitchen hand.
