Anthony Doak

034-Special-Olympics-19-03-14LR.jpgSpecial Olympics Southland’s Anthony Doak has been involved with Special Olympics since it began in 1983, and he has made a lasting impression along the way.

Ahead of the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2005 in Connecticut, USA, Anthony made the news as one of the ‘top runners’ to watch. The Director of Sports and Recreation at Special Olympics International, Tom Songster, singled Anthony out as “another sub-three hour qualifier” expected to complete the 26.4-mile (alongside Games favourite Andrew Mruba of Kenya) in The Daily News (Connecticut).
Outside of sport Anthony works for Alsco in Invercargill providing laundry services for a range of businesses in Southland.
As a Global Messenger Anthony says he is looking forward to expanding his skills, meeting new people and helping his peers.
