The Heart of Community Funding: In October 2010, Pub Charity became a partner of Special Olympics New Zealand with its generous grant to help fund the 2011 World Summer Games team.
As a Charitable Trust, Pub Charity focuses on supporting communities all over New Zealand. It makes a huge difference to a wide range of local causes each year by returning millions of dollars in gaming machine proceeds to New Zealand communities. Pub Charity was the first organisation in New Zealand licensed to operate gaming machines and is one of the largest national trusts operating gaming machines, with venues spread across the country.
Pub Charity was established in 1987 by the then-named Hotel Association of New Zealand (HANZ), now the Hospitality Organisation of New Zealand. Throughout its 20-year history, Pub Charity has raised, through the support of Pub Charity venues, more than $350 million in donations for a wide range of community organisations including community groups, sports clubs and organisations, cultural groups, emergency services, youth and education, and health.
