Trudi Bridges joined Special Olympics New Zealand in 2012 as a Regional Sports Coordinator for the Upper North Island overseeing our Clubs and schools from North Harbour to Kaitaia. She is now the Regional Team Leader - Community and Coach Development, based in Auckland.
Originally working in corporate sales and marketing, Trudi retrained in sports management, graduating in 2009. "When my son went to school, I went to school too," she says. She has recently completed a Master's degree in business management.
Trudi moved from Auckland to Whangarei in 2010 with her husband, Wayne, and their son Keegan (15), who has dyspraxia and autism. A gentler lifestyle, and improved access to schools and sports opportunities for Keegan were driving forces behind the move, with the warmer climate an added advantage! Trudi will commute between Auckland and Whangarei to get the best of both worlds.
Outside of work Trudi keeps active by open water swimming in the beautiful Tutukaka Harbour, paddle boarding, yoga, walking and "getting outdoors" whenever possible.
